Why We Will Get Results

NIAPNY is led by a team of executive directors with a combined 35 years of nursing experience, giving us deep insights into the community’s needs and challenges. Over the years, we have identified the key areas where support is most needed, allowing us to tailor our programs for maximum impact.

The Free CPR Assistance Program is a crucial initiative, providing life-saving
skills to underpaid medical professionals and teachers, empowering them to
respond effectively in emergencies. This program addresses a critical gap in the
community by offering essential training at no cost, ensuring that more lives can be
saved.

Additionally, with the advancements in HIV treatment and the ongoing efforts of our Thrivers Assistance Program, we are committed to reducing the spread of HIV. Through increased awareness, education, and support, we aim to help individuals protect themselves and others, ultimately leading to a healthier and more informed community. By leveraging our extensive experience and targeted programs, NIAPNY is well- positioned to deliver meaningful and lasting results for the communities we serve.

Why the Community Needs NIAPNY

According to the CDC, despite declines in sexual risk behaviors among youth, significant health challenges persist. Condom use has decreased from 60% in 2011 to 52% in 2021, heightening the risk of HIV and STDs. Substance use among youth often leads to high-risk behaviors, and LGBQ+ students are particularly vulnerable, facing higher rates of sexual violence and drug use. NIAPNY’s programs, including HIV prevention and treatment through the Thrivers Assistance Program and life-saving skills training via the CPR Assistance Program, are crucial to addressing these risks. Our experienced team is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the community, making NIAPNY an essential resource for those in need. HIV. This highlights the need for targeted interventions that address both substance use and sexual health.

Higher Risks for LGBQ+ Youth:

 LGBQ+ youth are particularly vulnerable, with data showing that 1 in 5 LGBQ+ students experienced sexual violence in the past year, and they are more likely to engage in illegal drug use compared to their heterosexual peers. These factors contribute to an increased risk of negative health outcomes, including HIV and other STDs.

Given these challenges, NIAPNY’s programs, such as the Thrivers Assistance Program for HIV prevention and treatment and the CPR Assistance Program for healthcare and educational professionals, are crucial. Our efforts to raise awareness, provide education, and offer support are vital to addressing these risks and improving the overall health and well-being of the community.
